About Us
Oscar — founder, head embroiderer, and the guy stitching your stuff.
Meet Oscar.
Founder of RK Threads. Custom embroiderer by day, standup comedian by night, occasional cooking-show B camera operator in Peru.
Howdy, I'm Oscar. I started RK Threads in 2020 from my parents' garage in Mornington with my two best mates, Sam and Harry, a beat-up secondhand embroidery machine, and a silly idea that meaningful moments deserved to live on a hoodie. Five years later, Sam's a teacher, Harry got his PhD in recycling, and I'm running 10 Brother PR-1055x 10-needle machines and 3 industrial Tajima TMEZ 15 needle machines, out of a studio in Melbourne's southeast, embroidering custom pet drawings, kids' artwork, anniversary dates, business logos, and the occasional Windows 95 nostalgia hoodie.
Every single piece is made by hand, made to order, and made with the same obsession that got me through 2020.
I hired Willow in 2024, and she has been the best to work with! She reminds me how to have fun at work, and I value her input more than anything.
Wait - "standup comedian"?
Yes. The shop is my day job; comedy is what I do at night and on weekends. A bit of background you probably didn't sign up for:
The X-Factor audition that almost happened
In 2014 I auditioned for X-Factor Australia and absolutely sent it on Michael Bublé's Just Haven't Met You Yet. It was a yes from Dannii and Natalie, and a no from Redfoo and Ronan, which mathematically is a tie, and emotionally is also a tie.
A sitcom on Stan, later this year
I've got a role in a comedy series dropping on Stan later in 2026. I'll plaster the details everywhere the second I'm allowed to - if you're on the mailing list you'll find out first.
A food/travel show on SBS, this August
I co-produced and appeared on a food and travel series filmed in Peru, premiering on SBS in August. Yes, I ate things I probably shouldn't have. Yes, I survived. No, you can't have the leftover ceviche.
Why this matters for your hoodie
It matters because everything on this site is built by someone who treats this whole thing like a creative project, not a factory line. There's no warehouse in another country. There's no "premium" tier where you suddenly get the good cotton. There's just the studio, the machines, and the work, every piece passing through the same handful of obsessive hands before it ships.
That's why turnaround takes a couple of weeks. It's also why I refuse to call anything on the site "good enough" - it has to be a piece you'd happily wear in a photo your future kids actually keep.
What we make
- Custom Pet Drawing embroidery | hoodies, crews, tees, beanies, totes, all from a photo of your pet
- Kid's Drawing embroidery turn the original Picasso living in your house into something you can wear
- Custom embroidery for anything | business logos, anniversary dates, that one phrase your group chat won't let die
- The Windows 95 collection | a pixel-perfect nostalgia drop I had to make because nobody else would
Say hi
Got a wild idea? A weird logo? A pet that needs immortalising? A guess about which Peruvian dish broke me? Send it.
